- Climate: no polar ice caps, warm and increasingly humid, carbon dioxide levels about seven times higher than today
- Main dinosaurs: theropods, sauropods, early stegosaurs and hypsilophodontians
- Main plants: horsetails, club-mosses, ginkgoes, ferns, cycads and conifers
- Other animals: fishes, plesiosaurs and ichthyosaurs dominate the sea; long-tailed pterosaurs still rule the air; advanced amphibians such as frogs appear
