Email Prof Shane Ahyong

Shane’s research interests focus on the phylogeny and systematics of aquatic invertebrates and on aquatic bioinvasions. He completed his Ph.D. in 2000 at the University of New South Wales, followed by an Australian Research Council Postdoctoral Fellowship at the Australian Museum. In 2006, Shane joined the National Institute of Water and Atmospheric Research, Wellington, New Zealand, where he managed the Marine Biodiversity and Biosecurity Group and Marine Invasives Taxonomic Service. In 2010, Shane rejoined the Australian Museum and is currently a Senior Principal Research Scientist and Head of Marine Invertebrates.
