It's been quite an experience, preparing complex and little-known archival material for a mass audience (we hope) on a very tight, 4-month deadline. We knew that the Scott collection is lovely, and the exhibition is designed to amplify and explain the beauty and science of the butterfly and moth paintings.

But we have discovered so much more about the collection beyond the paintings as the project has progressed. Unfortunately, some of that new knowledge won't make it to the exhibition, mostly because of the (ruthless!) editing process to make the text accessible and secondly because some of this knowledge has come too late to make it into the exhibition.

There are just so many ways to describe the collection  -- but we could only take one approach, largely a biographical one based around the sisters themselves. Fortunately we also have our new Scott sisters website where we can keep publishing more images and information:  http://www.australianmuseum.net.au/Beauty-from-Nature-art-of-the-Scott-Sisters.
