Western False Pipistrelle
Scientific name: Falsistrellus mackenziei
Introduction
Western False Pipistrelles live mainly in wet sclerophyll forests of Karri, Jarrah and Tuart eucalypts. They are fast, direct, high fliers which have been caught in the forest 8 metres above the ground.
Habitat
Western False Pipistrelles roost in hollows in old trees, branches and stumps, in colonies of 5 to 30 bats.

Feeding and diet
Western False Pipistrelles eat flying-insects caught in the spaces between canopy and understorey of tall forest trees.
Conservation status
Western False Pipistrelles are vulnerable to loss of roost sites in tree hollows and loss of feeding grounds by forestry activities, clearing for agriculture and housing.
