This small bee is typical of a large number of solitary bees that carry pollen between the branched hairs on the hind legs or under the body. The pollen is not mixed with nectar, and is therefore readily transferred to another flower and is viable if it is transferred. This makes solitary bees much more efficient pollinators than honeybees.
