Image: Tikar Throne E76299
Cast bronze throne. Tikar People, North Cameroon.
According to North-western Cameroon tradition, each Fon (King) needs a new throne. The Fon is the brother of rave and mighty animals and has the power to transform himself into a leopard. At night he hunts in the forest and the savanna. This bronze throne has a royal head motif but no leopard symbol, therefore, it has probably been
owned by a queen mother or a court official.
