Three seated young women wearing items of clothing often worn during dances and ceremonial occasions. Manono, Samoa, 1893. AMS318/V6007. Two women are wearing tuiga ceremonial headdresses worn by sons and daughters of matai(hereditary chiefs), printed barkcloth (siapo) skirts, and brightly coloured leaves. The younger girl on the left wears a necklace of sperm whale teeth('ula nifo) and holds a nifo'oti dance knife.
