Walking through Hyde Park this morning, I came across a large group of what I thought were Sulphur Crested Cockatoos under one of the trees. It was the first time I have ever seen such a large number together in the city.
Not sure what they were doing there, looked like they were eating some of the seed from the tree they were under. Was something special to see!

Yes, they are Sulphur-crested Cockatoos and it looks like they're feeding on fallen seeds. They are very common around Sydney. Although you most often see between one to a few at a time, it isn't rare to see them in larger flocks. I have sometimes seen Little and Long-billed Corellas mixed in with the Sulphur-crests.
They are indeed a beautiful sight!
