Cast of the partial skull Homo sp. (species uncertain) discovered in Maba, China. Its age is between 120,000–140,000 years old. Although this skull has not been classified to a particular species, it is very similar to European Neanderthals. Its discovery in southern China suggests the possibility that Neanderthals travelled further east than once thought. More fossil evidence from Asia is needed to understand the significance of this specimen.
