Thank you to Dr Kunio Sasaki for identifying the fish. He stated that "soldado” means “soldier” - the name referring to the very long second anal fin spine that looks like a sword.”
The fish is now registered in the Australian Museum Ichthyology Collection (AMS I.44858-019).
