Quite by surprise i found one of these juvenile pheasant coucals in a callistomon tree in my backyard in Katherine, NT. I had some idea what it was but had not actually seen a juvenile before but had plenty of time to observe this marvelous creature. Unfortunately by the time i got my camera it was racing across my back lawn. This is the second time it has been sighted in the last week, 3 Sept 2011, the previous time by my partner who doesn't follow birds!!!
