Image: Paper Wasps - Alice Heelan
I took this photo of Polistes paper wasps and their nest late one afternoon. There were dozens of nests along a fence in a paddock. Luckily, getting up close for a photo didn't cause trouble, because I have since discovered they can be very aggressive.
