The shark had been frozen when captured, and the photo shows it following defrosting. Leighton Taylor and Paul Strushaker were the lead researchers taking data from the shark as it sat in a tank at the Kewalo Basin facilities of the University of Hawaii.Head of the first Megamouth specimen, collected off Kaneohe, Hawaii on 15 November 1976.
