Additional information
Thank you to Dr Ron Fricke for his help identifying this fish. Ron stated that "The male colour pattern is characteristic. Enneapterygius similis has a dark posterior part of the body including the third dorsal fin, the caudal fin and the posterior half of the anal fin. In addition, there is a dark mask on the lower sides of the head. It is more difficult to identify females."
