Image: Lord Howe Island bird specimen repair
Silvia delicately repairs the broken feet on this baby bird specimen from the Lord Howe Island diorama. The webbed feet have been damaged by insects and are very unstable. Silvia reconstructs them using Japanese tissue, tinted to match the colour of the feet and conservation grade PVA.
