Two sections of broken woven plant fibre are repaired by adding a section of Japanese tissue paper in the gap between. The Japanese tissue paper provides a supporting bridge in the gap where the two parts have torn. Careful consideration was given and a number of tests carried out to select the most appropriate adhesive to attach the tissue to the plant fiber.
