E078197 club, wood, south-east Australia.

This wooden club is from south-eastern Australia. The club is carved from a single piece of wood. It has a straight handle with a pointed base. The diameter of the club increases towards the top to form the club's head. A repeated leaf motif has been carved around the head of the club. Above the carved design the head tapers to a point. The club was collected by Alexander Morrison in the late 19th or early 20th Century. It was acquired by the Australian Museum in 1982.
