A 13.7 mm SL Denise's pygmy seahorse collected by an ROV at a depth around 100 m, at the north-west corner of Holmes Reef, about 240 km east-north-east of Cairns, Queensland, 25 October 2010. The fish was in the gorgonian Villogorgia sp.

Additional information
This is the first specimen of the species found in Australian waters. It was documented in a paper by Foster, et al in 2012. The fish is now registered in the South Australian Museum Ichthyology Collection (SAMA F13806).
