As a sculptor, I am in love with pure form and it is hard to describe the excitement I felt as I looked down the microscope and came across this beautiful foraminifera in a sample of sediment from the Arafura Sea. I can only equate it with the thrill of finding buried treasure - realising on reflection, that despite the fact that this specimen is less than one millimetre long, it is still a buried treasure.
