Hi redheadsrq.  Thank you for your comment.  It's pretty amazing that you saw this fish.  I'm envious.  Not only haven't I been to Tampa Bay (I'll remedy that one day), but I also haven't seen an oarfish outside of a museum.  What I'd really like is to see one while diving.  I don't suppose anyone can send me an underwater photo of an oarfish to post on the fact sheet ...

I recall this specific fish (I can tell by the date and location). It was a beautiful specimen and almost completely undamaged. I feel quite lucky to have seen an oarfish outside of a museum!
