I have a few citrus trees in my back garden and have observed the male dimorph laying eggs
-does the female sometimes take the male colouring?

That sounds interesting and I have not found any mention of this in the general notes for the species. Can you please post an image of the egg-laying - or even a short movie of it - using the upload function below the comments box?
