This week in web: 14 March 2011
OK it is a bit late, but here are our web stats for January and February 2011.
During this period, web page views totaled 1,743,959, with 548,471 visits. 170,000 visits were from Sydney. 418 new members signed up during these two months, with 2,210 active users and 224 new comments. Mobile device access is still increasing with over 17,000 visits via these devices in January and February.
cracked.com and Google are still the main ways people are visiting our site, however in February over 5,000 visits were made through the Aussie School House Teachers on the Web site. Stories of the Dreaming is still the most viewed part of our website.
The Museum has long been active in the social media space and we run a number of projects. This week I thought I’d focus on some of our Facebook pages. The Museum page has almost 1,000 fans and around 700 active monthly users. Our favourite, Mr Blobby the Blobfish, has almost 1,100 fans and 800 active monthly users. We plan to use Mr Blobby as part of our front end evaluation for an upcoming Deep Oceans exhibition. If you haven’t already done so, check out Gagali the Gecko, with over 500 likes (and a sizable proportion being Indigenous people) and a future plan to use this page to continue discussions with our Indigenous stakeholders as we start to re-think our offer in this area.
So, that’s it for another week (well, month) in stats. Watch his space as I’m writing a blog post about my adventures at Digital Directions 2011…
