What's in the Box - are you ready for 2012
With 300 boxes booked already, 2012 is shaping up to be a very busy year.
Great progress has been made on the National Parks box. This box looks at five environments that link to a 5 different national parks across NSW. The text has been written and is with our amazing design team to create the information panels. Our education staff are working closely with the NSW National Parks & Wildlife service to write up all the activities to go with the program. The exhibitions team are casting and painting specimens to go into the dioramas and fitting out the interior of the boxes. This new and exciting addition to the Museum in a Box® program will be complete in Term 2 2012.
Just because we thought we weren't going to be busy enough we are also creating a Marine Mammals box. Tina, who does most of the casting and painting for Museum in a Box® found a boxes of whale and dolphin moulds in our storage unit. She was every excited and wanted to create a whale box. She also found dugong and seal moulds so we decided to make a Marine Mammals box. This will be a basic box with specimens, images, DVDs and teaching resources and will be available mid 2012.
We are very proud of the Museum in a Box® program and would like to hear from you. Please let us know what topics or content you would like to be developed next.
