More on that amazing discovery

Volunteer Science Writer, Stephanie Guzik, tells us more about the "Overdue Family Reunion".

As reported previously on the Fish Bits page 'Decades old fish puzzle solved!', international ichthyological collaboration showed that three previously-recognised families of fishes are in fact a single family. The whalefishes (family Cetomimidae) are all female, the smaller bignose fishes (family Megalomycteridae) are all male and the bizarre tapetails (family Mirapinnidae) are larvae. Now, thanks to Stephanie's efforts, you can read more about this discovery on the National Museum of Natural History (Smithsonian Institution) website.
