Bonjour Plastiki – New Caledonia, the final stop
Plastiki has arrived safely in New Caledonia after experiencing some challenging weather.
Team Plastiki has been restocking and doing some repairs for their final leg to Sydney. The team will be leaving within days and it is anticipated to take about four days to reach Sydney.
In the last leg Plastiki experienced 3 to 4 metre swells which meant nearly everything got wet. In the high winds the sails were ripped and needed to be repaired. It is likely the team will experience more challenging weather as they head to our shores.
I hope the team is enjoying their warm break because it is certainly going to be a bit of a shock arriving here in the middle of winter!
As soon as they leave New Caledonia I will let you know.
Go team Plastiki!
