Consider making a bequest
Please consider making a Bequest to the Australian Museum. Help us continue to unlock and share the knowledge held in our collections, and explore its impact on our culture and our lives.
What is a bequest?
A bequest is a gift made through a will. By describing in your will what you want to give (eg, money, shares, property or other goods) and to whom (an organisation or a person) you are making a bequest.
Your bequest will make a difference
The Australian Museum is so much more than the exhibitions and events which provide our public face. Our collections are a tool for scientific research which is vital to our future well-being as a nation. After 180 years of collecting, the Museum holds more than 18 million specimens and cultural artefacts. As technology advances the research potential of our collections continues to grow.
By making a bequest you could:
- Ensure the future use of Australia’s most significant collection of natural history and material heritage
- Help promote the careers of Australia’s youngest generation of research scientists in their most challenging years
- Ensure research continues on significant issues and is communicated to all Australians, thus making a difference to the lives of others. Biodiversity, climate change and the importance of environmental integrity are just some of these issues.
Making a bequest to the Museum Foundation is your commitment to the future of a great Australian institution. For further information, please contact our Bequest Officer, Kate Richardson, on 9320 6456.
Why it’s important to let us know.
To avoid any confusion or misunderstanding about your wishes, please contact us to discuss your plans. You may wish to allow your bequest to be used at the Museum’s discretion, but if you have a special purpose in mind, then we would like to discuss it and help ensure your wishes are fulfilled.
We would also be very pleased to have the opportunity thank you in person.
All correspondence or discussion about your bequest is strictly confidential.
