Update of The Plastiki Expedition
After nearly a couple of weeks on xmas island the Plastiki with new crew members set sail for Fiji – or say they thought!
After an amazing stay on their first stop the crew had a changeover. The three new crew members are Graham Hill who is the founder of Treehugger, Luca Babini who is world-renowned photographer and Singeli Agnew a National Geographic film-maker.
The first leg took a little longer than anticipated and that is one of the unknowns when it comes to a great adventure like this. This is a unique vessel. All loaded up the crew set sail for Fiji. However, Plastiki is proving more difficult to navigate is certain conditions and the crew have made an unplanned stop in Apia, Western Samoa. The Plastiki will have some modifications made as she is prepared to set sail for Fiji. The conditions they are expecting as they head towards Sydney will be a bit more challenging and as we have seen our seas lately the crew will certainly be challenged. Fingers crossed all goes well for the next leg and for the rest of the adventure.
